South Africa Successfully Places 8,403 Medical Graduates for 2025
The South African National Health Department has efficiently finalized the placement of 8,403 medical graduates for the 2025 cycle, achieving this milestone ahead of schedule with minimal challenges.
The cohort includes 2,108 medical interns and 6,295 community service personnel, all set to commence their roles in January. These placements cover various healthcare fields, such as community service doctors, diagnostic radiographers, physiotherapists, psychologists, dentists, and pharmacists.
Addressing public health priorities, the department emphasized the need for additional health inspectors to tackle foodborne illnesses, particularly those impacting children. Efforts are ongoing to develop sustainable solutions in partnership with other government bodies and stakeholders.
This initiative reflects the department's commitment to building a responsive and efficient healthcare system. Provincial health departments are now issuing appointment letters to candidates who have accepted their placements.
