Overview
Knock knees (genu valgum) is a condition where the knees angle inwards and touch each other while the ankles remain apart, commonly seen in children.
Symptoms
Inward angled knees Walking difficulties or abnormal gait Leg pain in severe cases Uneven wear on shoes
Causes
Normal development in children (usually corrects with age) Genetic or skeletal disorders Vitamin D deficiency (rickets) Obesity or joint abnormalities
Diagnosis
Physical examination Measurement of knee and leg alignment X-rays in severe or persistent cases
Treatment
Observation in children if mild Physical therapy to strengthen leg muscles Orthotic devices or braces Surgery in severe or persistent cases
