Overview
Ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump, usually on the wrist or hand, filled with a jelly-like fluid. It can vary in size and sometimes disappears on its own.
Symptoms
Visible lump or bump under the skin Possible pain or discomfort if pressing on nerves Reduced range of motion in affected joint
Causes
Unknown exact cause Often develops near joints or tendons due to irritation Repetitive movements or trauma may contribute
Diagnosis
Physical examination Ultrasound or MRI to confirm fluid-filled cyst
Treatment
Observation if asymptomatic Cyst aspiration to remove fluid Surgical removal if persistent or painful
Complications
