Gallbladder cancer is a rare malignancy that forms in the tissues of the gallbladder, often diagnosed at an advanced stage due to minimal early symptoms.
Symptoms
Abdominal pain, especially in the upper right side Jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes) Nausea and vomiting Unexplained weight loss Fever and fatigue
Causes
Chronic gallstones and inflammation Genetic mutations and family history Porcelain gallbladder (calcified gallbladder wall)
Diagnosis
Imaging tests: ultrasound, CT scan, MRI Blood tests including liver function Biopsy to confirm malignancy
Treatment
Surgery to remove the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) if localized Chemotherapy and radiotherapy in advanced cases Palliative care for symptom management
Complications
