Overview

Excessive daytime sleepiness (hypersomnia) is a condition where an individual feels overwhelmingly sleepy during the day, even after adequate nighttime sleep.

Symptoms

Persistent sleepiness during the day Falling asleep unintentionally (e.g., at work or while driving) Difficulty focusing or concentrating Irritability or mood changes

Causes

Sleep disorders: sleep apnea, narcolepsy Medications or substance use Medical conditions: hypothyroidism, depression Poor sleep hygiene
