Overview
A brain abscess is a collection of pus that develops in the brain due to an infection. It can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
Causes and Risk Factors

Symptoms
Severe headache Fever and chills Nausea and vomiting Neurological symptoms such as weakness, confusion, or seizures Vision changes or speech difficulties
Diagnosis
Physical and neurological examination Imaging tests such as CT scan or MRI Blood tests to detect infection Sometimes aspiration of the abscess for laboratory testing
Treatment
Antibiotics or antifungal medications Surgical drainage in severe or unresponsive cases Monitoring in a hospital setting Management of symptoms such as swelling or seizures
Prevention
