Navigating the Ozempic Craze: The Rise of Compounded Weight-Loss Medication
We’re living in the age of Ozempic, where celebrities like Oprah Winfrey promote it, and microdosing has gained popularity. Amid a national shortage of key ingredients, many are turning to compounded versions of the drug, often obtaining prescriptions online in mere hours.

The availability of compounded weight-loss medications, especially through telehealth and online platforms, remains controversial. For some, particularly the uninsured or those unable to afford mainstream brands like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro, these cheaper, non-FDA-approved alternatives are a necessary option. However, for others, this increased accessibility has led to misuse.

While I think compounding pharmacies can be great, Ozempic is a complex drug, and I fear some are just jumping on the craze without maintaining the highest quality.”
