A Journey Through Time The Peel's story began with Jack Peel, a passionate beekeeper who started his apiary as a hobby in the Midlands. Jack's love for bees and dedication to producing pure honey soon found a growing customer base among friends and neighbours. As demand soared, so did the number of his beehives. In 1956, Jack met fellow beekeeper John Smith. Their shared enthusiasm for beekeeping led to a fruitful partnership. After Jack's passing in 1959, John and his wife Faye continued to build on Jack's legacy. They sold their honey products directly from their car boot by the roadside, eventually constructing a charming wooden kiosk that became a local landmark. A Legacy of Quality and Community Peel's has changed ownership over the years, each new custodian bringing fresh ideas and energy while maintaining the brand's core values. Today, the Peel's shop on the scenic Midlands Meander is a popular destination, with loyal customers cherishing memories of visits, road trips, and the delicious taste of Peel's honey. Our beekeeping operations have expanded significantly, with hives across KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State. Peel's remains committed to supporting small and medium-sized local beekeepers, ensuring our honey is 100% South African and of the highest quality.
